Engadget Going Overboard With New Header

March 13, 2010 by Troy

I’m all for Engadgets revised and revamped new site. Ever since they changed it back in November, they’ve tweaked things here and there, usually for the good. But, it’s the new header that’s getting a bit — how do you say — overcrowded.

Maybe its me. Maybe I’m just simple-minded. Is it me? Just look at the image above. That’s the [newest] header. Clearly I liked the one before, but this new version just seems a overboard and dare I say… ugly. There’s just too much color, too many titles, and too much content in one area.

Go back to the one big header, Engadget. Go back.

Looptworks Offers Up(cycled) Laptop Sleeves For $30

March 13, 2010 by Troy

Looptworks is offering some pretty sexy laptop sleeves for $30. Best of all their completely upcycled. Yeah, I didn’t say recycled, — although in a way it really is — I said upcycled.

Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.

These badboys are made from excess scraps of nylon neoprene so you know you’re little darling will be cushioned all around. It also comes in two colors: yellow and gray (with a sweet camo lining). I have a feeling you’ll probably dig the latter being the yellow is honestly an eyesore. Grab yours here.

Imma Be Rocking That Body With The Black Eyed Peas

March 5, 2010 by Troy

Welcome to the future, ladies and gentlemen. A place ruled by the Black Eyed Peas. It’s not full of college students rocking out to “I Gotta Feeling.” Instead you’ll find a mashup of “Imma Be” and “Rock That Body“, breakdancing robots, futuristic motorcycles and the occasional dancing ray gun. Epic.

Season Finale Of The Real Housweives of OC (Season 5)

March 5, 2010 by Troy

The Real Housewives of Orange County

Wow. This season of The Real Housewives of Orange County was crazy. Bravo really brought the drama, if I do say so myself. But it’s the season 5 finale that left us hanging; so, lets break it down.

Like every other season finale, everything was over the top. The girls had an “end of summer bash” to celebrate the incredible year they spent together. Everyone showed up, even some past housewives (Jeana and Lauri). But, like every party the girls flock to, drama always ends up finding its way too. Read more

Pedigree Commercial Does Cuteness At 1000 Frames-Per-Second

March 4, 2010 by Troy

This is the epitome of a great dog food commercial. It’s cute, cuddly, dogs in slow-motion. Albeit a bit long, but who can’t resist the soft flowing fur at 1,000 frames-per-second? Not I. I dare you to not smile. Koodos goes out to Pedigree for an awesome commercial.

North Korean Female Cop Does The Robot

February 28, 2010 by Troy

While I’m sure this Korean lady-cop will eventually be replaced by a real robot, she does a fine job at being one herself. Apparently she is directing traffic while doing her little pop-and-lock-it. Lets just hope everyone who’s driving by doesn’t become fixated on her awesome moves and run straight into her.

Life: The Successor Of ‘Planet Earth’

February 27, 2010 by Troy

Love Planet Earth? I have little doubt you don’t. In fact, 65 million people enjoyed the Discovery Channel series. On Sunday, March 21st, Discovery is making us fall in love with “her” all over again with Life.

Like its predecessor, Life will take us deep into the wondrous world we live in. And like the new name, it comes with a brand new narrator: Oprah Winfrey.

Some (like me) question why they chose Oprah. Personally, I would have preferred the voice of Sigourney Weaver. Perhaps it was Oprah’s undying passion for the series which she raved about on her own show. Either way, watching animal attacks in slow motion never looked so good.

For those of you who can’t wait the extra month, Discovery has a slew of online videos from the television series which you can watch at your leisure.

The 2010 United States Penny, Redesigned

February 18, 2010 by Troy

United States Penny (2010)

I’m not entirely sure why the US Mint would want to redesign the Penny. And who would have ever thought there was a Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee? Either way, this is the 2010 US Penny.

At a quick glance, not much has changed on the front (heads). Lincoln is still featured as the prominent face of 2010 Penny;  however, it’s the reverse side (tails) which had the major overhaul. It seems as though the “Citizens” weren’t to fond of the ol’ Abe’s memorial.

Check out the description and meaning behind the 2010 Penny after the break. Read more

Everything You See On TV Really Is Fake

February 17, 2010 by Troy

This video will blow your mind. You thought all those city shots in your favorite TV shows were real? Well, you’re wrong. I was shocked to see what they were able to put in place of the “green screen.”
