Michael Phelps Disappointed, Gives Us The Usual Excuses

It annoys the shit out of me when celebrities and athletes give us the usual excuses of why they did what they did when they got caught using drugs. Why can’t any of them just admit they like getting high or tripping? Its so cliche to tell us that they’re disappointed in themselves. I swear, they think it hasn’t been used a million times.

Sports and Olympic star, Michael Phelps, today in an interview with NCB discussed the incident when Phelps got caught smoking weed. In the interview, Phelps said,

“It was a bad mistake. I mean, we all know what, you know, what you and I are talking about. It’s a stupid mistake. You know, bad judgment. And it’s something that, you know, I have to, and I want to teach other people not to make that mistake.”

“There was probably two or three people there I didn’t know. It was a very small group. Six or seven people probably total in the whole house. Like nothing major. You know, not like a giant college house party. It was nothing like that. It was just a small group and we were just sitting around and celebrating.”

Phelps goes on to say that the friends he trusted told him the two or three he didn’t know could be trusted. Trusted to not spill the beans, I’m sure. Dude, come on. You know you’re lying. It’s the same pity story we’ve heard over and over again from almost every celeb on the street. You get caught, you give us the same bullshit story. It’s almost like clockwork. However, what gets under my skin is that he says he wants to teach others not to make the same mistake he did. That clearly means he’ll be teaching people not to smoke weed at parties when you don’t know certain people.

The interview will be aired on the “Today” show tomorrow and then Sunday on “Dateline.”
