E3 2009: Super Mario Bros. Wii
Mario was joyfully present at the 2009 Electronics Entertainment Expo. In the form of various games, actually. The first game to be shown at the Nintendo Press Conference was Super Mario Bros Wii. Our Nintendo hostess-with-the-mostest, Cammie Dunaway, said that Mario has already conquered all other dimensions (i.e. 2D and 3D), so it’s only fitting that he conquer the fourth.
I’m very surprised that this is all they could come up with. Super Mario Bros Wii is a classic platformer in every sense of the word. There’s really nothing special except Cammie’s fourth dimension (aka: four player co-op). While I’m sure the game will be fun, it just seems like a rather easy way out from creating an entirely new Super Mario Bro’s game.
Nindendo will release Super Mario Bros for the Wii this holiday season.
