Samsung Furot II Ready To Take On Roomba

samsung-furot_ii_robovacIn the world of robotic vacuum cleaners dominated by Roombas, you wouldn’t think there’d be room for another — especially with iRobot’s monopoly. Samsung is looking to change that, however, with the introduction of it’s newest robo-vac: Furot II. While not as sexy as the Roomba 550 or any other Roomba for that matter, the Furot II sports better mapping technology than it’s popular cousin.

Samsung has apparently released a little information on the Furot which details some pretty nifty features. The first, which I believe is the most important feature, is it’s new camera and mapping system. Basically it outlines your entire house and remembers every detail so that it never cleans a portion that’s already been cleaned. This, in turn, saves the vacuum time that could be spent on cleaning dirty areas. It also will help the robot remember where it left off should it’s 90-minute rechargeable battery go dead. Some other features include HEPA 11 filter, it knows its way back to its charging station, comes with a two-sided brush to clean those hard-to-reach areas, high suction power (did I even need to put that in there?) and supposedly has an ultra-low level of noise factor. Must buy? You bet.

Unfortunately, no release date or pricing information was given about the Furot II, but I’m sure we’ll hear something soon straight from the horses mouth.

Was there a Furot I? lol? I wonder why they chose this name. I can’t find anything on it. I am interested in the product though as I own a Roomba and it just randomly goes where it wants. I think Panasonic is on to something with it’s new camera mapping system. I do want to know a price though because robot vacuum cleaners need to be CHEAPER. Way cheaper. I had to pay $499 for my Roomba even though I’m really happy with it.
