How-To: Stop A Runaway Accelerating Toyota (Or Any Car)

March 27, 2010 by Troy

We’ve all heard the reports of the uncontrollable acceleration of Toyota’s. People have been scared to purchase Toyotas because of this reason. Well, I received this incredible email from my Grandma and it’s got an interesting way to stop any out-of-control car.

It’s simple. Put your car in neutral, come to a complete stop, turn off your car.

Operation Repo: We Have To Repossess A Segway?

January 29, 2010 by Troy

We have to repo a Segway??

During these tough economic times, it’s inevitable that vehicles will be repossessed. Whether buyers can’t afford the payments, they lost their job, or maybe they just don’t feel like paying the note… when you don’t make the payments, the repossession starts.

Tonight, I found a little show called Operation Repo. As much as I hate to admit it, it’s one of my favorite new shows (well, it’s not new, but I’m new to it). I’ve watched them take car after car but when the guys were asked to repossess a Segway, I immediately took notice. Read more

GM-Volt.com Says ‘Drive Electric Cars’

January 19, 2010 by Troy

I eagerly await the year when I can proudly say “I drive an electric car.” Hopefully by that time it will be charging on it’s own solar array, saving me even more money. But until that day arrives, I can only dream.

That doesn’t mean people aren’t going to try and get you in the right mindset. Take GM-Volt.com, the blog devoted to Chevrolet’s new electric [hybrid], the Chevy Volt. Sure, I’m betting the creator of this video is trying to generate traffic to his website, but I’m confident he’s also trying to show how positive life would be without petroleum. So, with that in mind, here’s the video.

Jeep Music Is Your Cars Favorite New Techno Song

December 25, 2009 by Troy

Get a group of 7 young adults, throw in what looks to be like a broken-down Jeep, now sit back and watch the magic. This video shows that young minds do “think outside the box” and I’m [seriously] amazing what they come up with. What they did was use car noises to make a pretty sick beat and dubbed it, “Jeep Music.” Personally, I call it the “Car Techno Song,” but whatever. Just know this is your cars favorite new techno song (oh, and he’s downloading it illegally as we speak).

Chevy Volt To Have Its Own iPhone And Blackberry Apps

December 10, 2009 by Troy

chevyvolt-iphoneIsn’t this interesting? It looks like Chevrolet, makers of the Volt, are going to bundle software (for your mobile phone) with the car. The news comes to us courtesy of GM-Volt.com, a site dedicated to the Chevy Volt.

We have already known that charging will be programmable at least from the dash.  Drivers will be able to set the car to charge, for example, after midnight to take advantage of lower utility rates. Read more

Nissan Land Glider Is The Perfect Vehicle For Skinny People

October 8, 2009 by Troy

Nissan Land Glider

Nissan Land Glider

Want to own an earth-friendly vehicle for two? Are you and your partner skinnier than half the American’s out there? Well, we’ve got a vehicle for you! This is the latest concept car from Nissan called the Land Glider. Yes, it may look like it got t-boned on both sides but little electric vehicle is the bees-knees. Much like a motorcycle, the Land Glider leans into curves and utilizes the same tires as their two-wheeled cousins. Also, since it’s only 3.6-feet wide, finding a parking spot doesn’t seem that tough since it can literally fit anywhere you put it. No pricing information was released since it’s still a concept, but keep a look out at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show as we hear it’s supposed to be on display. Also, don’t forget to head past the break to see the Land Glider in action (taking turns like a champ, of course). Read more

Is America Rethinking Trains Instead of Planes?

September 28, 2009 by Troy

SNCF2

The company that brought France a 357-mph train is trying to bring the same technology to the States. While not as fast (coming in somewhere around 220-mph), SNFC wants to have it’s first high-speed rail system in place by 2018. It’s to bad that they only have plans to bring this to “major cities” because I honestly think we need this everywhere. I would much rather take a nonstop train from Florida to California versus the same in a plane. The french national train operator says its total cost comes in around $140 billion. (Cough)

Must Have: Honda’s New U3-X Personal Mobility Device

September 25, 2009 by Troy

Damn, I wish I worked for Honda. Getting the chance to ride future mobility devices and play with robots would be sweet. Earlier this week, Tokyo was graced with Honda’s new U3-X personal mobility device, a Segway-like vehicle for the ultra-lazy.

What can only be described as a self-balancing robot unicycle, the U3-X could be used for many things. Various online articles claim it can be used for offices, but I see more practical uses. Read more

Girl Impaled Through The Neck By Spruce Tree Branch, Survives

Impaled By 13-inch Spruce Tree

Impaled By 13-inch Spruce Tree

You know, when we think of car accidents, we normally think about rolling cars, broken glass and an air-bag or two — not trees through the neck. But, that’s exactly what happened to 22-year old Michelle Childers while driving to the Idaho Mountains. Apparently, she went around a corner and — WHAM — a Spruce tree went right through her neck.

Speaking to “The Early Show,” Michelle said Read more
