Looptworks Offers Up(cycled) Laptop Sleeves For $30
March 13, 2010 by Troy
Looptworks is offering some pretty sexy laptop sleeves for $30. Best of all their completely upcycled. Yeah, I didn’t say recycled, — although in a way it really is — I said upcycled.
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.
These badboys are made from excess scraps of nylon neoprene so you know you’re little darling will be cushioned all around. It also comes in two colors: yellow and gray (with a sweet camo lining). I have a feeling you’ll probably dig the latter being the yellow is honestly an eyesore. Grab yours here.

Best Buy Caught Scamming Computer Buyers With ‘Optimizations’
January 7, 2010 by Troy
Read this: don’t let Best Buy scam you into “optimizing” your [brand new] computer. The optimization has been such a huge controversy that Gizmodo released a blog post entitled, “Best Buy’s ‘Optimization’ Is Officially a Huge, Evil Scam.” Ouch.
So what exactly did they do? Well, they offer computer optimizations for $40. This “optimization” entails installing software which Best Buy gets a $5.00 fee for each trial that’s turned into a purchase. Additionally, they remove the icons from your desktop so you don’t even know exactly what they installed. Read more

How To Reinstall Windows On EeePC 1005HAB Netbook
January 2, 2010 by Troy
One of my family members got a EeePC 1005HAB Netbook a couple of months ago as a birthday present. While not tech-savvy, they somehow managed to get a couple of bad viruses that completely ruined their system. They called me up, asked me if I could fix it, and I agreed. Unfortunately, the viruses and malware were so bad that I had to reinstall Windows.
I searched the internet and couldn’t find a damn thing until I finally ran into some brief instructions on the Asus support forums. Thankfully, one EeePC user posted a quick “How To…” so I could get the netbook back in working condition. Since I had a horrible time trying to find the instructions, I decided to post it here for anyone else having the same issue and are looking to reinstall windows on an EeePC 1005HAB netbook. Lets get started, shall we? Read more

Video: MSI Laptops So Thin, Catch Them With Your Butt Cheeks?
August 12, 2009 by Troy
I’m really confused over MSI’s laptop commercial. It’s about young adults catching laptops with their butt. Or, is it more like Wii Sports Resort frisbie toss, only your aiming for a tight spandex crack? I just really don’t understand it. Are MSI’s laptops so light and thin that you can throw them at anyone’s ass and it will stick? Are gay men’s buttocks muscles so rock hard that they can catch anything? I’m unsure, but I do know one thing: they sure as hell aren’t selling laptops.

MacBook Pro Users: Why Is My MacBook Making Clicking/Beeping Noises?
I may be a little biased, possibly due to my love/hate relationship with Apple, but making the switch from Microsoft to Apple just doesn’t seem right — yet. Lately, an irate number of MacBook Pro users have been diligently complaining on the Apple Forums that their Macbook Pro is making clicking or beeping noises (which is now fixed). This is just one more issue facing the expensive line of Apple laptops. Read more

Don’t Hit The Update Button On Your Lenovo
Yeah, that’s a warning to anyone who owns a Lenovo. A recent update incorporates Lenovo adware which currently is irremovable. I’m actually surprised Lenovo even though this was a good idea. Lets see: (1) lets make pop up ads appear every hour, (2) lets make it irremovable and (3) lets put this in a computer update. Sounds a bit shady to me.
And don’t think I’m picking on Lenovo. We own some of their crappy hardware at work (which isn’t currently working). But, lets theoretically say it was Apple. They, too, would be feeling the repercussions of their actions. No computer user deserves to have ads displayed on their computer every hour after completing an update. It’s just not right.

Pink CrunchPad Unboxed On Video, Officially Sponsored?
June 14, 2009 by Troy
Everyone can’t wait to buy the new CrunchPad. Everyone including me. This multi-touch tablet has been years in the making and it looks like it may finally be available soon. Unfortunately, the man in the video doesn’t turn the device on, indirectly blue-balling nerdgasms around the world. You’ll probably notice that the CrunchPad has a sponsor, too. Yeah, Bing, the new search engine you’ve been hearing about all over the internet. I hope the CrunchPad does as well as it’s positioned to do; because, in the recent video of the Archos 9, it sure looks like it’ll have competition.

Archos 9 Gets Demoed On Video
June 12, 2009 by Troy
You want to see the future of computers? That’s it right there. Multi-touch tablet personal computers (or, Macs
). The above video shows the new Archos 9, a 2-pound tablet pc running Windows 7. Hot-damn is this thing looking sexier than ever. The Archos 9 doesn’t only recognize one object touching the screen; like the iPhone and other personal media players, it’s multi-touch. The resistive touchscreen looks remarkably accurate and fast, something I’m positive couldn’t be possible with Vista. Oh, and it’s speculated that the Archos 9 will arrive in the US under $500. Nice.
Archos 9 Spec Sheet:
- Windows 7 Operating System
- 8.9-inch 1024×600 touchscreen
- 80GB hard drive
- 1.2 GHz CPU
- Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi
- Kickstand
- Soft (on-screen) keyboard
- SIM card slot for HSDPA

The End Of Windows, Begining For Android OS
March 31, 2009 by Troy
Today marks the end of a long era. An era of Windows based personal computers. Gasp! Yeah, Windows is reportedly being considered for a swap-out on Hewlett-Packard computers. While I think Windows will still remain a solid competitor in the operating system war, it’s only a matter of time before others creep in to steal its thunder. As for Android, this would be a huge leap operating system — built by the one-and-only, Google.
This news came in from InformationWeek where HP acknowledged they are studying and currently working with Android on their netbooks. Read more
