January 30, 2010 by Troy

Is This The iPad Killer?

You may be a tad-bit bummed about the iPad’s shortcomings, but don’t fret, MSI heard your cries. Makers of the incredibly thin laptops — so thin you can catch them with your ass — are hot on the heals of Apple and are creating their own “iPad killer.” Unlike the iPad though, it won’t run the iPhone OS, but it will run one of the most popular mobile operating systems out there, Android. The Future Is Digital Wallpaper, Just ‘Cus

September 22, 2009 by Troy

One day you’ll be sitting in your rooms and lights and objects will be dancing around you. No, we’re not talking about drugs here but rather digital wallpaper. We’ve seen projectors used on buildings but never on the interior walls of a building. Strukt Design Studio is changing that with the first digital wallpaper (read: first that I’ve seen, at least) being used inside rather than out.

Zune HD Gaming Is Official

Zune HD Game

Everyone knows the entire reason the iPhone is one of the best-selling mobile phones of all time is because it’s not just a iPod or phone, but it also plays a huge role in the mobile gaming world. Recently, Microsoft gave us a glimpse into the Zune HD gaming market by showing a quick racing game in one of it’s promotional ads.

Sure, it’s not a “ah-ha!” moment, but it’s good to see that they’re jumping on the bandwagon. Don’t forget that the Zune HD is Tegra-based, meaning it will have a lot of horsepower under the hood to produce some mighty fine graphics. That, coupled with some Xbox integration, an App Marketplace and a variety of other functions make this nice competition to Apples formidable gadgets. Check out the full Zune HD promotional video after the break. Read more

First Look: Microsoft ZuneHD

May 28, 2009 by Troy

zune-hd_hi-rez_01At the D: All Things Digital (D7) conference, or summit (whichever you prefer), Microsoft finally unveiled its new touchscreen music player, the ZuneHD. As hands-on previews come online, we get a sense of what Microsoft’s going for in this generation of the device.

At first glance, you’ll notice that the ZuneHD has an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. This paper-thin display is some of the newest technology recently featured at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), back in January. In addition the ZuneHD features built-in WiFi, an accelerometer, full HD output (yum!), Internet Explorer for full internet browsing, an built-in HD radio receivier and more. Microsoft was sure to jump on the App Store bandwagon and create its own application storefront called Marketplace. Oh, and lets not forget that the ZuneHD will hook up to “Xbox LIVE to create a game-changing entertainment experience.”

And lets be clear, the ZuneHD is ultra-sexy. Gizmodo even went on to say that “the device is tighter and more physically beautiful than the iPod Touch and it’s got a better UI [...].” The animations and transitions are beautiful. I’m even digging it’s super contemporary, and rather simple, interface. Hit up the read button for a brief hands-on video of some guys fondling Microsoft’s prototype. Read more
