Playstation 3 Gets Bundled With Uncharted 2, Hits Spain
October 14, 2009 by Troy

The critically acclaimed game from Naughty Dog is doing so well that Sony’s ready to capitalize on it’s success. An Engadget reader has spotted the Playstation 3 bundled with Uncharted 2. The only problem I can see it’s that it’s [currently] only in Spain. I’m positive, much like the rest of the world, that said bundle will arrive state-side soon, it’s just only a matter of time. Now, if only I could save up enough money for it. Or, maybe I can just buy the game and head over to my friends house. Yeah — that sounds like a good idea.

‘Darksiders’ Is The First Of Many Games, According To Joe Madureira
October 2, 2009 by Troy
The epic game where you play War, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, is the first of many according to the games designer, Joe Madureira. In an interview with IGN Australia, Madureira was asked about the role that the other three horsemen play in Darksiders game. He replied, “They have a very small role in the first one.” I’m sure this is correct, as long as the games sales figures turn out positive.
The interview also details some gameplay mechanics and other interesting tidbits, so it’s worth a read if you have the time. Hit up the link below for the full interview.

Developer Talks About The Making Of ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’
September 25, 2009 by Troy
The Playstation 3 title is hitting store shelves in October but that’s not stopping developer Naughty Dog from releasing even more details about the highly anticipated sequel. In this mini-documentary, the developer talks about how they created “playable cinematic action adventure” in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It gets interesting when Richard Lemarchand, co-lead game designer for Uncharted 2, shows how they used motion-capture and recorded voice acting all at the same time. He even totes the Playstation 3′s processing power which gave them the ability to create realistic looking skin and materials.

8-Minutes Of Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Video
September 25, 2009 by Troy
A huge “THANK YOU” goes out to our friends over at Kotaku. These gaming Gods brought us 8-minutes of Modern Warfare 2 gameplay video straight from the floor of Tokyo Game Show. Thought it’s not HD quality, and at times lamers get in the way, they still managed to bring us 8-frickin’-minutes of Modern Warfare 2 (so we can’t complain).
The video is set in a city, and mind you it’s a large and very detailed one, where the protagonist is up against a major group of baddies. My favorite part is where the player walks up a set of stairs where he’s greeted by a barking dog that’s behind a fence. SPOILER: He looks at the dog and continues on but fails to notice that the dog knows his way around the fence (read: EPIC). As he dies to numerous guns, he respawns right before the dog moment and when confronted with the dog again, he simply shoots it. The crowd got a huge kick out of that, as did I.
If you’re still reading this — STOP. Watch the video… now.

Uncharted 2: Train Sequence Incredible, Jaw-dropping
September 7, 2009 by Troy

If there’s one reason to buy a Playstation 3, it’s this. A little ol’ video game called Uncharted 2: Among Theives. Developer Naughty Dog brought with them to PAX ’09 a new live demo of Nathan Drake’s latest adventure. Specifically, it was the train sequence that had everyone in complete awe. There’s realistic vegetation, helicopters after you, million-dollar views, oh — and people trying to kill you. This makes for some fun gameplay, right? Hell. Yes. Read more

Blur: It’s Like Mario Kart For Grownups
September 5, 2009 by Troy

Getting tired of the cute and cuddly look of Mario Kart? Have no fear. Bizarre Creations has a new game coming out for next-gen consoles called Blur which looks to bring the masses a more realistic arcade-style racer. Instead of bananas, shells or red boxes, Blur will have five different power-ups including nitro, shot, shock, barge and mines (see the video after the break for video of each type).
Joystiq has a nice writeup of some of the features in the game which include the ability to shield yourself and dodge. They also noted that Blur will be able to have 20 cars on the track at one time, which will surely make racing intense. There’s also a part on customization which they note is mainly for the effectiveness of the power-ups, not to boost your rides curb appeal. It’s a different take on a genera Nintendo’s dominated for the past couple of years. I’m really excited to see Bizarre Creations’ game and still interested another badass racing game called Split/Second. Read more

Meta Review: Batman Arkham Asylum
August 22, 2009 by Troy

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Since the revamp of the movie series, Batman hasn’t seen much, if any, video game love. Well bat-boys and bat-girls, early reviews of Batman: Arkham Asylum are steadily flowing throughout the internets and it looks like Rocksteady Studios has nailed the caped crusader.
IGN’s own Greg Miller has posted a very well in-depth review of the new third-person bat-brawler which also includes a video review (posted after the break). After careful analysis, and finally beating the game, he’s given it an outstanding score of 9.3 out of 10. Read more

The Darksiders: 20-Minute Developer Walkthrough
August 9, 2009 by Troy
G4TV is home to “the most watched video games show on television,” X-Play. They’re the ones who actually got this 20-minute developer walkthrough on the new Xbox 360 and PS3 game, Darksiders. In the first video, Joe Madueira from Vigil Games takes us on a ride through a level filled with deamons. War, the games protagonist, hacks and slashes his way through tons of ‘em pulling off huge combos and throwing numerous explosives. He ends up in an area very similar to an arena where he gets to kill wave after wave of even more deamons.
Head past the break for Part 2 of the 20-minute developer walkthrough. Read more

THQ’s ‘Darksiders’ Shaping Up To Be A+ Title
July 4, 2009 by Troy
IGN had some hands-on time with THQ and Virgil Game’s upcoming title, Darksiders. I’m happy to report the game is shaping up to be an A+ title.
Darksiders is a new video game set to be released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. You play a character named War. He’s an over-sized, over-the-top, bad-ass who has come to earth to bring balance between the forces of Heaven and Hell. During an encounter between the two sides, they came to Earth and destroyed our civilization. Now it’s time for War — also known as you — to neutralize the situation.
IGN reported the games visuals are astounding saying it’s a mix of Fallout 3 and Warhammer. They are loving the sandbox design (meaning completely open world), the controls, and, well, pretty much everything. The only problem they faced was during boss battles it was a little difficult to lock on for the finishing move. This, of course, can be nailed out before it goes gold.
