Vic Gundotra of Google makes fun of iPhone
Oh snap! While Google’s Vice President of Engineering, Vic Gundotra, may be stoked that his Android platform being the new GPS of the century, he was overly excited about said operating system‘s new messaging service and ability to multitask. With that said, he decided to make a clear jab at Apple’s lame excuse for notifications (read: “push”) and it’s clear lack of multitasking. During this mornings keynote on Android, Gundotra had this to say: Read more

Today, at Google’s second day for their 2010 developer conference, I/O, it was announced that users who use a smartphone coupled with the Android operating system have navigated over 1,000,000,000 (1-billion) miles using their free turn-by-turn GPS software. That’s a significant milestone.
The announcement came from Vice-President of Engineering at Google, Vic Gundotra. During his keynote, Gundotra also announced: Read more
Google’s Nexus One: ‘Bold and Beautiful’ or ‘Boring and Blah?’

With all the new Android smartphones on the market, I’m becoming increasingly aware of Google’s baby operating system. I’ve honestly had it all — the iPhone 3G, Blackberry, and many others — but I haven’t bought an Android device, yet. Oh, and when I had the iPhone 3G I fell in love, but that love eventually turned into a love/hate relationship due to a lack of multi-tasking. Now Google, one of the largest and most profitable companies in the world, has decided to take a new approach to mobile computing by building it’s own phone: the Nexus One.
Lets get one thing straight before I go any further: I commend Google for the Open Handset Alliance and it’s efforts to protect the wireless spectrum. Furthermore, Google is probably the best company to come along in quite some time. Read more
The Hottest [Female] Nerd
Sorry, ladies. This one’s for the guys. While you may think the hottest nerd is Kari Byron; boy, do I have a new hottie for you. Her name is Marissa Mayer, and she works for Google.
No, she’s not the receptionist or office manager — she’s a coder! Yes, Google’s Eric Schmidt even credits her for building “the team that designs the products we all use.” Yowza!
Oh, and a little history: she’s the first female engineer at Google! Drool.

Can You Forward Hotmail Emails To Another Email Account?
By visiting this page I’m assuming you’re currently using Hotmail as your email account. That and most likely you’re tired of using it and want to know can you forward your Hotmail emails to another email account. Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but that’s not possible. Well, it is, if you’re forwarding to another Hotmail account. You see, Microsoft owns Hotmail. They don’t want you to take your email anywhere else unless it’s hosted by Microsoft. But wait! There is one thing you can do. Read more
Google Maps Makes Death Visible. The Swine Flu Map — Yay?
Oh, Google Maps, what won’t you show us? First, you showed our digital neighborhoods via Street View, then you helped solve a plane crash mystery, now you’re able to show us up-to-date locations of Swine Flu cases and deaths. Oh, joy!
I’m just glad the Swine Flu hasn’t made its way east, to Florida (knocks on wood).

A Guided Tour Through Google’s Container Data Center
Ever wonder what it would be like to visit the internet giant, Google? I’ve been dying to know what Google’s data centers look like since they contain google amounts of data. Pun intended, smiley face. What I didn’t expect to find where huge buildings containing limitless amounts of pipes and cable. It truly is a sight to see. It’s amazing how a company that started as a college project ended up being the biggest money printer. Anyway, check out the guided tour of one of Google’s data centers. My favorite part is when the tour guide says,
“In this segment we follow a technitian to the container where he’s dispatched to perform a server replacement. Here, we see him making his way on a Google-provided personal transportation device.”
It’s really just a razor scooter but I love how they make it sound impressive. Win. Read more
The End Of Windows, Begining For Android OS

Today marks the end of a long era. An era of Windows based personal computers. Gasp! Yeah, Windows is reportedly being considered for a swap-out on Hewlett-Packard computers. While I think Windows will still remain a solid competitor in the operating system war, it’s only a matter of time before others creep in to steal its thunder. As for Android, this would be a huge leap operating system — built by the one-and-only, Google.
This news came in from InformationWeek where HP acknowledged they are studying and currently working with Android on their netbooks. Read more
Google Streetview Catches Another “Ah-ha!” Moment
Google’s popular Streetview has been of some controversy for catching people in places they shouldn’t be. Remember the person walking out of the porn shop? But, today, Google has brought us something back from abroad. In the image, we find two British men: one drunk as hell throwing up outside a bar, and the other, well, I couldn’t imagine he’s holding the dudes hair back. I’d send you the link to the actual Streetview but some loser has reported it as being a concern. Damn stupid people!
I can’t believe the dude walking down the street eating isn’t staring at the two men. Personally, I’d be walking the other way. I mean, that would completely ruin my appetite.
Google’s Search Results Go Berserk: Naming All Sites Harmful
I was doing some credit card searching (since I’m getting screwed by Chase) and every time I searched for something, Google would put “This site may harm your computer” under every search result. If you clicked on the link it would then bring up a warning page telling you to enter the site at your own risk since “This site may harm your computer.” I find it funny because even if I search “cute and cuddly teddy bear” the warning would pop up for all search results. Oh, and I also search “Google” and gave me the warning for all their pages, even YouTube, lol. See search results below:
Google is harmful for my computer, Oh-mai-gods!!!
