Chevy Volt To Have Its Own iPhone And Blackberry Apps
Isn’t this interesting? It looks like Chevrolet, makers of the Volt, are going to bundle software (for your mobile phone) with the car. The news comes to us courtesy of GM-Volt.com, a site dedicated to the Chevy Volt.
We have already known that charging will be programmable at least from the dash. Drivers will be able to set the car to charge, for example, after midnight to take advantage of lower utility rates. Read more
SmartScreen Bringing Widgets To Jailbroken iPhones, iPod Touch

Wouldn’t it be nice to have weather and other various informational widgets available when your screen is locked? You know, just to get a quick glance at certain items without having to unlock your phone and open the application. I certainly think so. Well, a developer out of Montreaux, Switzerland is doing just that — but there’s a catch. MediaPhone says you have to be running the iPhone 3.x OS and have jailbroken your device. Read more
World of Warcraft Mobile Armory Receives Version 1.0.1 Update

WOW Mobile Armory
While I still haven’t grasped the concept around the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, that didn’t stop Blizzard from rolling out version 1.0.1 a couple of days ago. Here’s a list of items that were added, fixed or updated:
- Guild mates can now be sorted by name, rank, level, race, class, and by achievement points.
- A saved password no longer automatically clears after a connection error or expired session.
- Login now properly accepts passwords that contain complex characters.
- And… other bug fixes and UI improvements.
I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between version 1.0 and 1.0.1, but it could be that I use it very rarely. I would, however, like to see Blizzard add full 3D models of our characters to the app. That way I can at least show off to others in the “real world” before I go back to my cave.
Western Wind For The iPhone Isn’t A Breath Of Fresh Air
By the sound of it, Western Wind for the iPhone sounds like it could be a wild west role-playing game or other western-style shoot’em up. But believe me, it isn’t. If you dug any fart game on the iPhone, however, you’ll probably dig this one.
Western Wind was developed by Rock Ridge Games, a small iPhone developer. They only have a number of iPhone games under their wings but are clearly on their way to knowing the ins and outs of Apples mobile OS. Ok, so the game is basically another fart app. But, unlike many other fart simulators Rock Ridge Games at least put some effort into it with a Simon Says-esq game and recording feature. Read more
Twitter Integration Coming To Doodle Jump v1.7

For those of you out there who are completely addicted to Doodle Jump, such as myself, you’ll be glad to know Twitter integration is coming to version 1.7. Lima Sky, via their Twitter page, notified everyone with a beautiful new screenshot and a test on their own account. If you’re wondering what it will look like, it’s pretty much exactly the same as the Facebook integration:
I just got up to 45047 in #DoodleJump!!! Beat that! (Link to Doodle Jump via iTunes)
I hate shameless (e.g. link to iTunes) self promotion but I guess even I would be doing it if I were creating apps for the iPhone. Either way, it’s a great addition in the continually evolving world of Doodle Jump. Thanks Sky Lima!

Augmented Reality Coming To A GPS Near You

Haven’t seen the latest craze hitting your mobile phone? Let me introduce you: augmented reality, meet nerdalicious blog reader. Now that you two are acquainted, may I suggest you watch the following video. It’s a new GPS app for the Android mobile OS, but it’s also coming to the iPhone.
While the app itself is a tad on the ugly side, you can definitely see the potential. I mean, those lame 3D city models used on current GPS systems is so, like, 2001. Instead of the 3D models, Mobilizy’s Wikitude overlays images onto live video straight from your mobile phone’s camera. I can see this being huge in like two years. I give it two years because augmented reality is just hitting the mainstream mobile market. It will need some time to marinate before fully realizing its potential. I will say though that Wikitude’s augmented GPS system is a great start and I can’t wait to see the iPhone version.

Video: TomTom For The iPhone
If you were at WWDC yesterday, you may have caught a glimpse of the new TomTom app for iPhone. Whether the app and car kit will be sold separately, is beyond us. That, and how much the TomTom app will raid our wallet for. Nevertheless, a turn-by-turn GPS solution is a much needed commodity on the iPhone. One, I’m positive, will be forever changed by this new TomTom app.

Yes, there really is an iPhone App for everything — even for when you get into a car wreck. Nationwide Insurance, you know, the one that’s on your side, is the first insurer to create an iPhone app that helps those who get themselves (or, find themselves) in a car crash.
Features:
- Call emergency services
- Helps connect Nationwide customers with towing
- Helps you collect and exchange accident info
- Stores your insurance info for easy look up
- Helps Nationwide customers start the claims process
- Locates Nationwide agents near you
- takes accident photos and lets you record details
- Handy flashlight function for rainy nights or anytime
This “Accident Toolkit” is not just for Nationwide policyholders either. It’s for anyone, although it does help those with Nationwide insurance. I don’t know about you, but I’ve hit someone before (by accident, of course) and right after your nerves can make you lose sight of what you need to do. This helps you stay on track and get exactly what your insurance provider needs. Read more
