Neato XV-11 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Cleans With Lasers

Hey! This thing's neato!

One of my biggest gripes about the Roomba is it’s random way of cleaning my floors. Before it broke down (after a year and a half of use) it would clean my carpets fairly well but since it did so in a completely arbitrary fashion, it didn’t clean as well as it should.

Well, a company with one of the most unoriginal names is here to change that. They call themselves Neato. Their newest robot vacuum is called the Neato XV-11 and it uses lasers to scan and map your entire room. Its design isn’t as elegant as Roomba’s circular shape, but it does get the job done efficiently. Using its mapping system, it not only ensures that every inch of floor gets cleaned but it doesn’t waste precious energy on recleaning floor that’s already been covered.

It sounds a lot like the Furot II, but unlike the Furot, it uses the principles of jet engine airflow to pick up the tiniest of dirt and dander. You can order the Neato XV-11 online at Neatos website for $399.

Although we just drooled overthe Furot II, we still enjoy the more famous robo-vac. iRobot, the creators of the Roomba, are offering a really great deal on September 15th and 16th. If you buy a Roomba 560 you can get a Roomba Dirt Dog for only $50.

The Roomba 560 is a great robot vacuum cleaner that cleans up to four rooms on a single charge. Straight from iRobot, the Roomba 560 features the “newest innovations in vacuum performance, room navigation, edge and corner cleaning, advanced anti-tangle technology.” Sure, but what do customers actually think? Well, according to the product’s page, it’s not to shabby. The average user rating is 4.5 out of 5.

Samsung Furot II Ready To Take On Roomba

samsung-furot_ii_robovacIn the world of robotic vacuum cleaners dominated by Roombas, you wouldn’t think there’d be room for another — especially with iRobot’s monopoly. Samsung is looking to change that, however, with the introduction of it’s newest robo-vac: Furot II. While not as sexy as the Roomba 550 or any other Roomba for that matter, the Furot II sports better mapping technology than it’s popular cousin.

Samsung has apparently released a little information on the Furot which details some pretty nifty features. The first, which I believe is the most important feature, is it’s new camera and mapping system. Basically it outlines your entire house and remembers every detail so that it never cleans a portion that’s already been cleaned. This, in turn, saves the vacuum time that could be spent on cleaning dirty areas. It also will help the robot remember where it left off should it’s 90-minute rechargeable battery go dead. Some other features include HEPA 11 filter, it knows its way back to its charging station, comes with a two-sided brush to clean those hard-to-reach areas, high suction power (did I even need to put that in there?) and supposedly has an ultra-low level of noise factor. Must buy? You bet.

Unfortunately, no release date or pricing information was given about the Furot II, but I’m sure we’ll hear something soon straight from the horses mouth.
